Annabelle Faulkner Neal, 92, of Ashland, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 18, 2010 in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
Mrs. Neal was born Nov. 19, 1918, in rural Boyd County, daughter of the late William Ballard and Anna Kinner Faulkner.
Annabelle served our great Nation honorably during WWII as a code breaker for the U.S. Army intelligence at the Pentagon, and was a retired school teacher in the Boyd County School System. She was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church where she taught exceptional students for 33 years.
Surviving are sons, Mike Neal and his wife Charlotte of Lexington, and Granville "Granny" Neal III and his wife Kim of Ashland; three grandchildren, Angela Neal Stovall (Clyde) of Canton, Ga., Kelly Neal Morton (Alan) of Waycross, Ga., and Danielle Michelle Neal of Lexington; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Harkins, Lindsey Morton, McKenzie Morton, Natalie Morton and Meleah Morton; and brother, Karl Faulkner (Edna) of Union.
Annabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Granville C. "June" Neal Jr. in 1998; a brother, Ballard Faulkner; and sisters, Lucy Faulkner and Faye Rice.
Funeral service honoring Mrs. Neal will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22,2010 at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Mike Blankenship will bring a message of comfort. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
