Audrey Hill Strother, 65, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, June 28, 2010, at her residence.
She was born March 28, 1945, in Catlettsburg, Ky., the daughter of the late Jesse J. and Ethel Helton Hill. She was the former department manager at C&H Kress Department Store, a lifetime attendee of Skyline Christian Baptist Church, an avid quilter and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family deeply.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Monnie Estep and Mabel Williams Butler.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Strother; two daughters, Dana Strother and Susan Ramey and husband Yancy of Ashland; a son, James Strother of Ray, Ohio; three sisters, Lina Bryan and husband Gene of Corpus Christi, Texas, Pam McCarty of Findlay, Ohio, and Shelia Taylor and husband Jeff of Ashland; three brothers, James Joseph Hill of Ashland, Harold Hill and wife Joyce of Tipton, Ind., and Anthony Wendell Hill of Killeen, Texas; two grandchildren, Lauren Burnside and Daniel Ramey of Ashland; two great-grandchildren, Madalon Burnside and Cameron Burnside of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Willie Smith Jr. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
