Beady A. Phillips, of Bear, Del., formerly of Catlettsburg, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in Christina Care Hospital in Newark.
Mr. Phillips, 92 years, 1 month and 29 days old, was born May 13, 1920, in Bell Point, son of the late Grant and Verla Durbin Phillips. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Bayes Phillips, in 1995.
Beady served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1941 to 1945. He participated in the European Theater in Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland, earning 6 Bronze Stars, American Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Ribbon, he was a member of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.
Beady is survived by a son, William Darrel Phillips of Glen Burnie, Md.; daughters, Sheila Cypriotis of Bear, Del., Sharon Faye Bevilacqua of Milton, Del., and Cheryl Kay Blando of Coatsville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ben Phillips of Ohio and Carl Phillips of Georgia; sisters, Louise Tindle of Alabama and Atha Wright of Georgia.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson; brothers, Edward Lee Phillips, Eugene Phillips, James Phillips, William Phillips, Willis Phillips and Norman Phillips; sisters, Martha Blevins, June Cureton and Frankie May Bowman.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Pastor Jo Ed Rice will officiate. Final rest in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland with Military Rites by Kenova Post 93.
Visitation after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
