Belva Lynn Sammons, 58, of Morehead died Friday at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born Oct. 6, 1949, in Ashland, the daughter of Grant Sammons of Ashland and the late Barbara Jean Wright Sammons. She was a retired administrator and counselor for Morehead State University and was very active in Girl Scouts of America, served in numerous professional organizations and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morehead.
She also was preceded in death by a nephew, Robert Eric Sammons.
Survivors, in addition to her father, include three brothers, Guy Sammons of Ashland, Mike Sammons and his wife, Dorothy, of Cannonsburg and Stanley Sammons and his wife, Karen, of Ashland; and a very dear friend, Debbie Reed of Morehead.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pollard Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Mantooth officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland.
A memorial service for Belva will be held at a later date at First Baptist Church in Morehead.
