Betty Cornette - 1937-2008
Betty Newland Cornette of Center Street, Catlettsburg, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.
Mrs. Cornette was 70 years of age, born May 27, 1937, in Greenup County, a daughter of the late James and Hazel Gallion Newland. She was a devoted and caring homemaker, family was always first in her life and she was a member of First Macedonian Church .
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Danny Burke Cornette; a son, Danny (Ruth Ellen) Cornette of Catlettsburg; five daughters, Brenda (Garland) Alexander of Ashland, Debbie (Sam) Wheeler of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Aroura Justice of Grapevine, Texas, and Hazel Cornette and Sue (Joe) Groves, all of Catlettsburg; a brother, Rex Newland of Catlettsburg; two sisters, Brenda Kaylor and Nancy Newland, both of Ashland; 18 wonderful grandchildren; and five precious great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Bill Newland, Wayne Newland and Art Newland; and two sisters, Virginia Sue Newland and Ruth Ellen Newland.
A funeral service in memory of Betty Cornette will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Fred Chaffin will offer words of comfort and inspiration. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
There will be no visitation.
The family extends an invitation for all to meet for a dinner and time of sharing at First Macedonian Church of Catlettsburg following the service.
