Betty Criss - 1947-2008
Betty June Howard Criss, 60, wife of Charles "Bill" Criss of Westwood passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008.
Betty was born Dec. 7, 1947, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles and Lena Boggs Howard.
Betty was a counselor at Ponderosa Elementary School and a member of the Kentucky Education Association, Boyd County Education Association, National Education Association and Kentucky School Counselors Association. She was a member of Westwood Christian Baptist Church, where she played the organ and the piano.
She is survived by her husband, Charles "Bill" Criss; a son, Charles "Billy" (Kisha) Criss of Westwood; three daughters, Karen (John) Susco of Lexington, Ky., Christine (Mark) McDowell of Ashland and Deborah Criss of Westwood; five grandchildren, Geneva, Destiny and Will Susco, Bethany McDowell and Ally Criss; three brothers, Marvin "Shannon" Howard of Westwood, Eddie Howard of West Hyannis Port, Mass., and Charles David Howard of Willowood, Ohio; and four sisters, Joyce Bramblett and Donna Parsons, both of Ashland, Jean Carr of Greenup and Teresa Maze of Salt Lick, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at Westwood Christian Baptist Church by Pastor James "Butch" Crum. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
