Betty Dartey-Spangler (1933-2008)
Betty Dartey-Spangler, 74, of Ashland, passed from this Earthly life and has touched the hand of her Lord and Savior. She died on Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland with her family at her side.
She was born July 7, 1933, in Catlettsburg, to the late W.R. Dartey and Ruth McPeek-Dartey. She was the wife of the late Charles Spangler.
Mrs. Spangler worked as a caregiver and ran a personal care home out of her own home where she made a difference in many people's lives.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie Dartey, Oscar Dartey and Curtis Dartey, and a sister, Rachelle Fairchild.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Jo Wessell and Sandy Kay Adams, both of Ashland; three sons, Bill Wessell of Ohio, Keith Wessell of South Carolina and Tommy Wessell of Ashland; three grandchildren, Phillip Wessell, Terri Jo Spangler and Christopher Jo Adams, all of Ashland; and 11 other grandchildren and great-grandchildren who live in different regions of the country.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ratliff Family Funeral Home, 1220 Greenup Ave. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation for family and friends will be after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
