Bill Workman (1929-2010)
Bill Workman, 80, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, March 18, 2010, in King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born April 8, 1929, in Louisa, Ky. to the late Thomas Jefferson and Maude Lynch Workman. He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church, an avid golfer and a member of Sandy Creek Golf Course. He retired from Ashland Oil after 44 years in human resources.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, John Matthew Higgins; a brother, Tom Workman; and a sister, Evelyn Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Ratliff Workman; two sons, William Alan Workman of Lexington, Ky. and Glenn Phillip (Teresa) Workman of Charlotte N.C.; a daughter, Debra (John) Higgins of Rockwall, Texas; five grandchildren, Julie Goldberg, William Alan Workman Jr., Gabriella Niccole Workman, Morgan Suzanne Workman and Anna Higgins Reagan; 3 great-grandchildren, Max Patrick Goldberg, Madeliene Jane Goldberg and Brent Reagan; and a brother, Harold Workman of Ashland, Ky.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Ronnie Mayes and the Rev. Charles E. Stewart. Interment will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41101.
