Charles Woodrow "Woody" Pennington, 71, of Catlettsburg, died Sunday morning, Aug. 26 at his residence following an extended illness.
Woody was born March 27, 1941, in Denton, a son of the late Charles and Eula Mae Tussey Pennington.
He was retired from AK Steel, was a member of Westwood Church of God and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delores Ann McGranahan Pennington, in 2009 and a daughter, Candy Marie Moore.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Edward Baker of Ashland and Daniel Lee Pennington of Greenup; a daughter, Teresa Diane Cumpton of Worthington; three brothers, Jarrel Pennington of Catlettsburg, John Pennington of Westwood and Jim Pennington of Ashland; four sisters, Brenda Pennington of Grayson, Ruby Pennington of Grayson, Gertrude Freholm of Russell and Karyl Rice of Alaska. Woody also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his six dogs, Muffin, Cashew, Ginger, Bear, Tina and Sheba.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Chris Keeton, with military rites by Ironton VFW Post 8850.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
