Charles Wellman, 81, of Flatwoods passed away Feb. 23, 2019 in the Community Hospice Care Center.
Mr. Wellman was born June 5, 1937, in Ashland, to the late John J. and Hazel Wellman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Wellman; two brothers, Donald and Billy G. Wellman.
Charles was a member of the Raceland Faith Church of God. He was a former employee of the State of Kentucky where he managed a group home for boys. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a contributor to the Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police, a UK basketball fan, a collector of many oddities. Charles loved visiting the public library. He was a compassionate man that never met a stranger and was loved by many people, sharing his love with all.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 60 years, Lorraine Wellman; cousin, who was more of a sister, Carolyn Artripe; special friends, Curta Niece, Shirley Peel, Lee, Mitch, Thomas and Harrison Hall; along with a host of many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Bishop Richard Dartey officiating. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Catlettsburg.
Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
