ASHLAND - Cledis Ruth Short Holley, 72, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Holley was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Huntington, W.Va, a daughter of the late William S. Short and Audrey F. Ross Cadle. She was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony L. Holley, in 2011.
Ruth was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed reading. She was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and friends and attended Wurtland Church of God.
Left behind to cherish memories are her loving husband of 58 years, Arnold Leo Holley; son Arnold L. Holley Jr. and wife Angie of Catlettsburg; daughter Audrey L. Lovejoy and husband James of Gordon, W.Va; daughter-in-law Michelle Holley of Louisa; eight grandchildren, Shelma Loges, Danielle Lovejoy, Linda Holley, James Lovejoy II, Aaron Holley, A.J. Holley, Adam Holley and Jacob Holley; five great-grandchildren; brother William L. Short and wife Sharron of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and sisters Thelma J. Pufnock of Loraine, Ohio, and Freda A. Montroso and husband Ernest of Rome, Ohio.
The funeral for Mrs. Holley will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Bishop Henry Montgomery and the Rev. Tim French will officiate. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
