CATLETTSBURG - Danny Burke Cornette, 77, lifelong resident of Catlettsburg, passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3, 2013, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Cornette was born July 10, 1936, in Boyd County, a son of the late Charles and Mamie Gladys Justice Cornette.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Newland, and daughter, Sue Groves.
Danny was a former employee of the Boyd County Parks Department and A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. He was a member of First Macedonia Church of Catlettsburg.
Surviving are his children, Danny William Cornette (Regina Pennington) of Catlettsburg, Brenda Alexander (Garland) of Ashland, Debra Wheeler (Samuel) of Ashland, Jayde "Dawn" Justice (Darrell Hayward) of Richland, Texas, and Hazel Martin (Shane) of Catlettsburg; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert Cornette (Nellie) of Catlettsburg; and a son-in-law, Joe Groves of Catlettsburg.
He was also preceded in death by brothers Charles Cornette, Frenchie Cornette and William Cornette and a sister, Betty O'Brian.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at First Macedonia Church on Center Street in Catlettsburg by Pastor Fred Chaffin. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
