Donna Rue Salyers Alley, 75, of Catlettsburg, went on to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Alley was born May 21, 1937, in Sitka, the daughter of the late Virgil and Lois Brown Salyers.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Fredrick Alley, in 2009; a grandson, Nicholas Stevens; and a brother, Douglas "Doodle" Salyers.
Donna was a 1955 graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School and retired as deputy jailer with the Boyd County Detention Center after 13 years of service. She was active in Eastern Star for many years, and the Motorette and Ladies Auxiliary for El Hasa Shrine. Donna enjoyed reading, puzzles, camping, yard work and UK basketball. She loved "her Wildcats," but most of all she loved her family. She was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church.
Left behind to cherish Donna's memory are a son, John Douglas Alley and his wife, Beki, of Ashland; a daughter, Deborah Stevens and her husband, Bob Jr., of Catlettsburg; grandchildren Bobbie Stevens, Taylor "Rambo" Stevens and Zachary Blevins (Tia); a great-grandchild, Tori; a brother, Charlie Salyers (Dottie) of Catlettsburg; a sister-in-law, Mary Salyers of Catlettsburg; and her furry body guard, Dusty.
Funeral services for Mrs. Alley will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg by Pastor Jeff Ferguson. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
