Dorotha Claudette "Claudia" Hayes, 77, of Ashland, passed away on July 1, 2012, at her residence.
She was born on July 28, 1934, in Martin, to the late Claude Parker and Nancy Jean Lambert Hagans.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Stephanie "Steffy" Christian and two loving sons-in law, Phil Salyer and Barney Hall.
Claudia was an active member of Second Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and had numerous offices. She was an avid UK fan and worked tirelessly in the P.T.A. when her children were younger. Claudia will long be remembered as a devoted homemaker and advocate for children in need.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Marion Hayes Jr. of Ashland; daughters, Susan Christian and her husband Steve of Middletown, Ohio, Lynn Tullock and her husband Larry of Robinson, Ill., Rebecca Woodburn and her husband Tim of Nashville, Tenn., and Sandra Williams and her husband Don of Ashland; brother, Alan Hagans of South Point, Ohio; sister, Eileen Sloan and her husband John of Prestonsburg; eight adoring grandchildren, Kelly Hoormann, Brad Salyer, Jordan Daniel, Lauren Hall, Rob Christian, Patrick Tullock, Paige Tullock and Peri Tullock and four cherished great- grandchildren, Jacob and Bailey Daniel, Braden Hoormann and Ava Grace Salyer.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. today, July 3, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Ed Caudill. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
