Earl Bailey Sr., 75, of Westwood, husband of Jacqueline Laney Bailey, died Saturday afternoon, Feb. 26, 2011, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Earl was born April 1, 1935, in Catlettsburg, a son of the late James Corbett and Rebecca Eldridge Bailey Sr. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Mishie Arnett Bailey, and three brothers, James Corbett Bailey Jr., Virgil Bailey and Harold Bailey.
Earl was the owner and operator of the former Bailey's Texaco Station in Ashland and also Bailey's Auto. He served two years as an MP in the U.S. Army.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Gordon Bailey and wife Cindy of Ashland; two grandchildren, Jason Bailey of Lexington and Melissa Murray and husband Jonathan of Lexington; and three sisters, Barbara Jean Padgett, Marty Griswold and Donna White, all of Ashland.
A graveside service with military honors by Ironton VFW Post 8850 will be at noon Tuesday at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland by Pastor Michael Rice.
Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland.
