Earl Fletcher, 74, of Russell, passed away Tuesday morning, March 8, 2011, in Kingsbrook Life Care Center.
Mr. Fletcher was born Jan. 6, 1937, in Lawrence County, Ohio, a son of the late Harlan and Mary Carpenter Fletcher. Earl served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the AK Steel Coke Plant after 34 years in the control room.
Earl leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Donna Thompson Fletcher; a son, Michael Fletcher and his wife, Belinda, of Greenup; and two daughters, Pamela Campbell and her husband, Mark, of Grayson and Patricia Haymond and her husband, David, of Russell. He was known as "Pop" to his seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also preceding Earl in death were his brothers, Paul Fletcher, Don Fletcher and Art Fletcher; and sisters Ruby Pauley, Loretta Sizemore, Edith Hughes and Louise Ward.
Funeral services for Mr. Fletcher will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Second Baptist Church, 4950 Williams Ave., Ashland. Pastor Ed Caudill will bring a message of inspiration. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, with military rites by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg is in charge of arrangements.
