Elizabeth Lucille Faulkner, 88, went home to be with her Lord Dec. 10, 2010. She passed peacefully in Trinity Nursing Home with family present, complications after 60 years with diabetes led to her death. She was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Catlettsburg, Ky. After graduating from Christ Hospital nursing program in Cincinnati, Ohio, she joined the Army's Nursing Corps. She served as a registered nurse in field hospitals in France from June 1944 to June 1945 as a Second Lieutenant, Honorably Discharged in 1946, she returned home to Boyd County as a Registered Nurse in the Boyd County Public Health Department for a short time before being employed as a Nurse in the newborn nursery at King's Daughters Medical Center for approximately 30 years.
She enjoyed reading, gardening and church activities, most of all visiting with her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Old Orchard Church of Christ, active in teaching pre-school and Women's Circle.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Ballard Theodore Faulkner; her parents, Lou Emmajean "French" Wright and Earl Edward Wright; her grandparents, Effie Jean and Frank "Poppy" French; and a brother, Edward "Bud" Wright.
Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Ann (David) Compton of Poca, W.Va.; sons, Ballard Theodore "Ted" Faulkner Jr. of Ashland and Warren Clifton (Becky) Faulkner of South Point, Ohio; and granddaughter, Caryn Elizabeth Compton of Washington, D.C.
Funeral services for Mrs. Faulkner will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Bill Kennedy will bring a message of comfort to those in attendance. Burial will be beside her husband in Golden Oaks Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to the service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
