Frances Pauline "Aunt Pod" Davis, 87, of Ashland, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Wheelersburg, Ky., the daughter of the late Gaylord and Bertha Blanton Dobbins.
She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, a former employee of General Telephone and a retired school bus driver for the Virginia Beach, Va., school system. She was a former member and past worthy matron of Eastern Star and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a Master Gardener and member of the Garden Club in Virginia Beach.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Lucille Hayes and Betty Jo Frame.
Survivors include a daughter, Jill Erica Davis of Ashland; a sister, Vivian Jean (Joseph) Vorbeck of London, Ky.; a brother, Thomas Leroy "Butch" (Anne) Dobbins of South Point; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend, Juanita Johnson of Ashland. A special thank you to her special friends at Amedisys Home Health Care.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, July 21, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by Roger McCaleb. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland
The family will receive friends after 11:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Aunt Pod was loved by all of those who knew her and will be sadly missed and always remembered for her compassion, courage and strength for living life.
