Gene Branham (1923-2008)
Gene Branham, 85, of Catlettsburg, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland after a long illness.
He was born May 23, 1923, in Elliott County, the son of the late Elisha and Mary Osborn Branham. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the pipefitters union and retired from Armco Steel's maintenance department in 1987. He was a member and deacon of Belmont Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He was a kind and gentle man, dearly loved by his family. He will truly be missed.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, James, Bard, Wintford and Earl Branham, and three sisters, Plina Gibson, Hermal Vega and Irene McClain.
Gene leaves behind his wife, Juanita Lyons Branham; four children - a son, Roger Branham and his wife, Patricia, of Catlettsburg; three daughters, Saundra Branham of Lexington, Suzanne Moore and her husband, Eric, of Catlettsburg and Jessica Branham of Ashland; three grandchildren, Brian Branham, Ashley and Kristy Kirk; five great- grandchildren, Desmond, Kylie, Citori, James Wyatt and Aiden; and a dear friend and caregiver, Jeremy Scott.
A funeral service in reverent remembrance of Gene Branham will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. The Rev. Hurston Webb will offer a message of comfort, with a heartfelt eulogy given by his son, the Rev. Roger Branham.
Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland. Those wishing to call on the Branham family may do so from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
