Geneva L. Hawk Coldiron, 84, of Cannonsburg Road, Ashland, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, following an extended illness.
Geneva was born in Johnson County, the daughter of the late Raymond Dewey and Hazel Hawk.
She was a nurse with King's Daughters and Three Rivers Hospitals as well as Home Care with Hospice. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg. She moved to Catlettsburg and married Jack K. Coldiron on Jan. 4, 1948. She loved to cook and provide for her family.
Geneva will be missed by her two sons, Phillip David and Deb Coldiron of Ashland, John E. and Brenda Coldiron of Summit; a daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Faye Blevins and her husband, Randy, of Texas; four wonderful grandchildren, Jason Coldiron and his wife, Tabitha, Douglas Smith and his wife, Mary Ann, Jackie Smith and his wife, Danielle, April Akers and her husband, Travis; 9 great-grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Katyln Smith, Megan Smith, Kyleigh Smith, Jillian Smith, Christian Smith, Brylin Coldiron, Colman Coldiron and Nash Akers; two sisters, Susan Friley and Ruth Brown; and brother Bill Hawk.
In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Jeane; a great-grandson, Jackson Smith; brothers, Raymond Charles, Oscar Wayne and Dewey Hawk; and half sister Margie Kenney.
In honor of Geneva's life, a funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan.14, 2013, at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. A message of comfort will be given by Pastor Stan Williams. Music will be provided by Ron Queen. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
