Geneva Perkins, 83, of Ashland, died peacefully Saturday evening, Jan. 8, 2011, in King's Daughters Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She was born June 24, 1927, in Ashland, a daughter of the late William and Ada Whitt Little.
She was also preceded in death by brothers Perry and Augustus Little and sisters Ella Board and Daisy Little.
She had worked at Parsons Department Store and Fields Flower shop and was a devoted homemaker and loving mother.
Geneva loved to sing and was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and often sang solos. She was also a former member of the Ashland Civic Chorus.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Kenneth F. Perkins of Ashland; a son, Greg (Ann) Perkins of Ashland; a daughter, Connie (Eddie) Shanks of Lexington; two stepgrandsons, David Conn of Lexington and James (Maribel) Conn of Florida; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Treya, Braedn and Dorian Conn; and a grandchild in heart, Ally Vanhoose, who loved her GiGi.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Jim Nichols and the Rev. Wayne Kuhner. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
