Henry "Vic" Hughes, went home to be with the Lord April 1, 2011, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. Hughes was 80 years of age, born July 4, 1930, in Catlettsburg, a son of the late Frank and Stella Maloy Hughes. Also preceding him in death are his sisters, Garnet Hughes May and Eunice Hughes Rice; and a brother, Curtis Hughes.
Vic served honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War, was a Kentucky colonel, and a member of The New Testament Freewill Baptist Church of Westmoreland.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Kay Workman Hughes; a sister, Frankie Hughes Berry; daughter, Lee Ann and her husband Lonnie Branham of Ashland; son, John Hughes and his wife Tina Hughes of Catlettsburg; two grandchildren, Jonathan Hughes and Connie Locker; three great-grandchildren, Austin, A. J. and Hunter; and a host of family and friends in Christ.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. A message of hope and inspiration will be offered by Pastor Eddy Hay. Committal will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland with military service by Kenova American Legion Post 93.
