James Edward Strother, 73, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 27, 2013, at his son's residence in Ray, Ohio.
He was born Sept. 15, 1939, in Ashland, the son of the late Miles Wadsworth and Ada Mae Barney Strother.
He was retired from Armco Steel, where he worked in the rigger shop and pipe shop. He attended 39th Street Christian Baptist Church and Skyline Christian Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and daily walks.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Hill Strother, and a sister, Kathleen Atkinson.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Ramey and husband Yancy and Dana Strother, all of Ashland; a son, James Strother of Ray; two brothers, Thomas Strother and Miles Strother, both of Ashland; two grandchildren, Lauren (Duncan) Burnside and Daniel (Jenna) Ramey, all of Ashland; four great-grandchildren, Madalon Burnside, Cameron Burnside, Kieran Burnside and Brynlee Ramey, all of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by Chaplain Billy Morris. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
