John "Freddy" Alley - 1936-2009
John Fredrick "Freddy" Alley, 72, of Catlettsburg, passed away early Saturday morning, Feb. 14, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
Mr. Alley was a son of the late John T. and Georgia Brown Alley, born May 9, 1936, in Elizabeth, N.J., Freddy served our great nation honorably with the United States Air Force, he was a millwright for 45 years under Local 1519, and a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church. He was a member and past master of Hampton Lodge 235 F&AM, El Hasa Shrine, co-founder of the A-Team, Royal Order of Jesters, Hillbilly Unit, directors staff, motor corps, Legion of Honor; and a 32nd Degree Mason, and Scottish Rites.
Freddy was a gun enthusiast, loved hunting, member of Micky D's Breakfast Club, the Catlettsburg Chapter, enjoyed antique cars, movie night and flea market trips with his grandson, walking at the mall and his rowdy four legged buddy "Dusty."
Sadly left behind is an adoring family including his wife of 53 years, Donna Salyers Alley; a son, John Douglas Alley, his fianceé Beki Blevins, of Ashland; a daughter, Deborah Alley Stevens, her husband Bob Jr., of Catlettsburg; three grandchildren, Bobbie Leigh Stevens, Taylor "Rambo" Stevens and Zach Blevins.
Preceding him in death is a brother, Harold R. Alley; two sisters, Irene Bates, Helen Yurich; two brothers-in-law, Manuel Bates and Mike Yurich; and a grandson, Nicholas Jordan Stevens.
A funeral service in remembrance of Freddy Alley will be at 11 a.m. Tueday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. A message of comfort and inspiration will be offered by Pastor Jeff Ferguson. Final rest following military grave rites at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Those wishing to call on the Alley family may do so between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. today at the funeral home with a Masonic service by Hampton Lodge 235 F&AM at 8:30 p.m.
