John W. Tipton Jr. (1946-2009)
John W. Tipton Jr., 63, of Catlettsburg, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 18, 2009, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He was born Dec. 9, 1946, in Catlettsburg, the only son of the late John W. Sr. and Beulah Holbrook Tipton. He was a graduate of Catlettsburg High School and Marshall University where he received a BA in Business Administration. He was an auditor for over 25 years with The Kentucky Revenue Cabinet. John enjoyed reading, was a member of Boyd County Democratic Women's Club and was of the Methodist Faith.
John leaves behind two children, a son, Tony Tipton; his wife, Kristen, of Barboursville, W.Va.; and a daughter, Tammy Ball and her husband Steve of Catlettsburg. Papaw Johnny has three beautiful grandchildren, Frankie age 9, Colin age 8 and Kelsey age 5.
A solemn funeral service to remember John Tipton will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Charles Allen will offer an uplifting message of comfort. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and an hour before service time Tuesday at the funeral home
