John Lee VanHorn Jr., 34, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at his residence.
He was born March 26, 1978, in Ashland, a son of John Lee VanHorn Sr. and Colleen Spears VanHorn of Westwood. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Lotice Spears; his great-grandparents, Willis and Anna VanHorn; and a cousin, Christina Lynn Spears.
John was a graduate of Fairview High School and attended Tunnel Hill Freewill Baptist Church. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Cristy Bohannon VanHorn of Ashland; three children, Austin Blake VanHorn, age 13, Chad Lee VanHorn, age 8 and Kaylynn Elise VanHorn, age 4; a sister, Tish Ann Malone and her husband, Christopher Ryan Malone, of Kitts Hill, Ohio; nieces Alexis Jordyn Conley, Sydney Nicole Conley and Kodeigh Ann Malone; nephews Hunter Conley and Christopher Ryan Malone; grandparents John and Joetta Keeton of South Point, Ohio, and Glenda Bocook of Westwood; and a host of loving extended family members and friends who were very special to him.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Sheldon Wheeler. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
