Leva Opal Burton Adkins, 73, Catlettsburg, passed away Wednesday morning, April 4, 2012, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mrs. Adkins was born Dec. 15, 1938, in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late Walter and Ruby Presley Burton.
Leva was owner and beautician of Adkins Beauty Salon for 40 years. She loved working at her beauty shop, spending time with family and cooking. She was a member of Catlettsburg Methodist Church.
Leva leaves behind her loving family, including her husband of 52 years, Floyd Emory Adkins; a daughter, Lisa Stevens and husband Teddy of Wurtland; a brother, Tommy (Anna Jean) Burton of Ashland; sisters Norma Wathen of Orlando, Fla., Phyllis McDavid of Rush, Garnet (Tom) Gilliam of Rush and Carolyn Strosnider (Larry) of Catlettsburg; grandchildren Josh (Heather) Keeton, Matt Keeton, Adam Keeton, Kyle Stevens, Brittany Keeton, Courtney Stevens and Joseph Keeton; great-grandchildren Amber Grace Keeton, Devan Bryce Keeton and Trenton Matthew Keeton; and many more nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Keeton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Fred Wiles will officiate. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
