Maxine V. Day Adkins, 82, of Catlettsburg, went to be with her Lord Monday morning, Dec. 20, 2010 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
She was born July 19, 1928, in Grayson. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Jenny (Kennedy) Day.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Murl Adkins in 1996.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Bill, Ennis and Jack Day.
She is survived by one son, Lennis W. (Linda) Adkins of Catlettsburg; two daughters, Judy (George) Bowens of Kenova, W.Va., and Cathy (Micah) Williamson of Bellefonte; six grandchildren, Tammy (Phillip) Pruitt of Catlettsburg, Christopher Adkins of Ashland, Jimmy (Jennifer) Adams of Webbville, Michelle (Sean) Stone of Kenova, Julie Smith of Ashland, and Adam (Jennifer) Smith of Ashland; and 11 great-grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Meghan, Shelby, Destiny, Brandon, Garett, Ethan, Emily, Lilah and Vivian. Also surviving are five sisters, Nancy Kees and Mary Ball of Columbus, Ohio, Hattie Compton of Clifford, Freeda Rogers of Grayson, and Ellen Gordeuk of Rushville, Ohio; and three brothers, Jim Day of Columbus, Ohio, and Ken Day and Clarence Jr. Day, both of Grayson.
She attended Catlettsburg Pentecostal Tabernacle.
Our Mother was known by always having a smile! Sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor J.R. Ferguson and Reverend Eugene Haney will officiate. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Chris Adkins, Jimmy Adams, Adam Smith, Justin Pruitt, Sean Stone and Phillip Pruitt will serve as pallbearers.
