Paul Cameron Stewart 1922-2010
Paul Cameron Stewart, 87, of Ashland, Ky., formerly of Catlettsburg, Ky., died Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Veterans Administration Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born Dec. 8, 1922, in Ashland, a son of the late John Stewart and Nellie Miller Stewart.
In addition, he was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.
He was a retired laborer with the state of Kentucky, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and attended 39th Street International Pentecostal Church of Christ. He was a gifted guitar player and singer who was devoted to God, hisnchurch-loving wife and family, his extended family and a host of friends.
Even though we will mourn his Earthly passing, we will rejoice his home going because he now is in the presence of the Lord.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Cooper Stewart of Ashland; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul DeWain (Nella) Stewart of Ashland; a daughter and son-in-law, Savonna Kay (Mike) Montgomery of Summit, Ky.; two stepchildren, Bill (Sherri) Wellman of Ashland and Randy (Brenda) Wellman of Lake Worth, Fla.; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; 11 stepgrandchildren; 23 stepgreat-grandchildren; four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a brother, Jimmie Stewart of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; and three sisters, Margaret Kasic of Trenton, Mich., Lola Henderson of Dearborn Heights, Mich., and Josephine Mercer of Newark, Ohio.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Cline McAllister and Pastor Rick Ratliff. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, April 21, 2010, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lazear Funeral Home, 1632 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101 to help with burial expenses.
