Richard Rigsby - 1933-2008
Richard M. "Dick" Rigsby, of Paddle Creek, Catlettsburg, surrounded by his loving family went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, Dec. 17, 2008, in the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. Rigsby was 75 years of age, a son of the late Henry and Ella Howard Rigsby, born in Catlettsburg, Ky., on Sept. 7, 1933.
Dick served our great nation honorably with the United States Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the maintenance department of Armco Steel, a former superintendent of Catlettsburg Cemetery and was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church.
Sadly left behind is his adoring family including his wife, Wretha A. Finley Rigsby; five daughters and four sons-in law, Don and Ellen Bolt and Beth Zornes, all of Catlettsburg, Talmadge and Tami Badgett of Rush, Ky., Charles and Rochelle Brown of Kenova, W.Va., and Trey and April Jackson of Ashland, Ky.; two brothers, James H. Rigsby of Madison, Ga., and Wade L. Rigsby of Eatonton, Ga.; three sisters, Dorothy Perry of Guyandotte, W.Va., Sue Tucker of Snellville, Ga., and Alice King of Hamlin, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Charles Brown, Daniel Zornes, David Zornes, Amelia Hall, Chas Jackson and Grayson Jackson; and two great-grandsons.
Preceding in death are four sisters, Betty Jane Eaton, Loretta Rigsby, Linda Mount and Clara Sneed.
A funeral service in honor of Dick Rigsby will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at the Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Jimmy Nichols will bring a heartfelt message, while Brother Ed Caudill delivers the eulogy. Final rest will follow at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland with grandsons and sons-in-law serving as casket bearers. Military rites will be observed at the committal.
Those wishing to call on the Rigsby family may do so between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
