Rufus Vanhoose (1947 - 2009)
Rufus Elwood Vanhoose, 61, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Catlettsburg, passed away July 6, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Vanhoose was born Sept. 25, 1947, in Ashland, a son of Maxine Davis Vanhoose Borders of Ashland, and the late Everett Milton Vanhoose. He was a retired film processor for Allied Chemical in Richmond, Va., and a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving is a loving family, including his wife of 30 years, Donna Douglas Vanhoose; four sons, Matt Vanhoose, Huntington, Jeff Vanhoose, Ohio, Kyle Vanhoose, Tucson, Ariz., and Mike Vanhoose, Huntington; two daughters, Tammy Brabham, Portland, Ore., and Jody Jacobson, Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Gary Register of Pasto, Wash., and Brandon Gago of Jacksonville, Fla.; 18 grandchildren.
A service to honor Mr. Vanhoose will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Pastor Ronnie Mayes will offer a message of comfort and reassurance with a heartfelt personal eulogy given by Pastor Charles Stewart. Final rest to follow a solemn committal at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
