Tom Meade - 1937-2009
Thomas J. Meade of Ashland passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at the VA Medical Center in Huntington. He was 72 years of age, born Aug. 15, 1937, in Catlettsburg, a son of the late Thomas and Shirley Franklin Meade. He attended school in Catlettsburg and entered the U.S. Navy in 1955. His honored and decorated service was aboard the USS Forrestal, United States first super carrier, with tours in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Following his Naval service, he was a driver for Weyer Hauser and received his pilot's license in 1969. Memberships include the American Legion and the Eagles.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, James Meade and Robert Meade.
Survivors include two sons, Bryan Meade of Wausau, Wis., and Marco Meade and wife, Therese of Schofield, Wis.; a daughter, Monica Dustin and husband, David of Adairsville, Ga.; a sister, Collette Relyea of Findlay, Ohio; and two stepbrothers, Billy Meade and Thomas Meade; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Cemetery, with military graveside rites.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. and until the funeral time Tuesday at the funeral home.
