Doug DeBoard - 1942-2008
Thurman Douglas "Doug" DeBoard Sr., of Kenova, W.Va., formerly of Catlettsburg, surrounded by his adoring family passed away Thursday Sept. 10, 2008 in Hospice of Huntington.
Mr. DeBoard was 66 years of age, born Jan. 14, 1942, in Richland, Va., a son of the late Levi and Cynthia Whitt DeBoard.
He was a member of the Army National Guard, a welder with American Car and a fork lift operator at Allied Warehouse.
He is survived by a loving family, two daughters, Kathy Buchanan and her husband, Steven, of Flatwoods, and Geneva DeBoard and her fiancé, Bobby Spurlock, of Ashland; two sons, Thurman Douglas "Doug" DeBoard Jr. and his wife, Kelli, of Catlettsburg, and Bruce DeBoard and his wife, Jean, of Georgetown, Ky.; two children he lovingly raised, Tina Travis-Webb and Todd Hoover; six sisters, Herma Lee Recore, Josie Ferguson, Diana Davies, Nellie Joy DeBoard, Tammy DeBoard and Edna Moyer; five brothers, Archie DeBoard, Reuben DeBoard, Danny DeBoard, Tim Joe DeBoard and Levi DeBoard; six wonderful grandchildren, Synde Manning, Samantha Manning, Steven Buchanan, Chris DeBoard, Taryn DeBoard and Linela DeBoard; and a precious great-grandson, Brendan DeBoard.
Preceding him death in 2004 are his former wife and friend, Joann DeBoard; and in 1992 his loving fiancé and friend, Linda Hoover; and three brothers, David DeBoard, Michael DeBoard and Richard DeBoard.
A funeral service in honor of Thurman DeBoard Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at the Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. A message of comfort will be offered by Pastor Frank Hulett. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation for family and friends is from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
