Wanda Lee Dickens, 78, of Ashland, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Ashland, a daughter of the late B.E. and Nannie Cantrell Gibbs.
She was also preceded in death by brothers Elwood Gibbs and Jim Gibbs and sisters Dorla Gambill and Lou Adkins.
Wanda attended Rose Hill Baptist Church, was a 1952 graduate of Ashland High School and was the former owner of Western Hills Florist and Western Hills Motor Lodge.
Survivors include her loving husband, Vernon E. Dickens of Ashland; sons Vernon A. Dickens and wife Ginger of Ashland and George R. Dickens and wife Lisa of Nicholasville; brothers Carl Gibbs and Tony Gibbs, both of Ashland; sisters Gloria Wenning and Janet Marsh, both of Ashland; grandchildren Lee Dickens and wife Meredith of Ashland, Malina Dickens of Catlettsburg and Emily Dickens and Alyssa Dickens, both of Nicholasville; a great-grandchild, Liam Dickens, expected in January 2013; Gina Dickens of Catlettsburg; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Ed Caudill and Chaplain Jimm Smedley. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 24, 2012, at the funeral home.
