Wilson Reeves - 1925-2008
Wilson L. Reeves of Ashland rests peacefully with his Savior following his passing late Sunday evening, April 27, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. Reeves was 82 years of age, born Sept. 6, 1925, in Fleming County, Ky., a son of the late Clifford and Mae Lawrence Reeves. His wife, Jean T. Whitley Reeves, preceded him in death in 2004. He attended Berea College, was employed for 40 years as an operator with Honeywell/Allied Chemical in Ironton, Ohio, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg. Wilson was an avid amateur radio operator and collected unique and original recordings, with an extensive library of old-time and mountain music.
Wilson leaves behind three sons, Cecil Reeves and Michael Reeves, both of Somerset, Ky., and Billy Reeves of Ashland; a brother, Earl Reeves of Flemingsburg, Ky; and two sisters, Evelyn McVey and Dorothy Conley, both of Flemingsburg.
A funeral service in memory of Wilson Reeves will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg. Words of comfort and inspiration will be offered by Pastor Stan Williams. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Those wishing to call on the Reeves family may do so between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg Building Fund, 11512 Midland Trail Road, Ashland, KY 41102.
