Zelpha Swafford, age 87, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010 at her residence.
She was born July 20, 1923, in South Shore, Ky., a daughter of the late Elza E. and Magnolia Alley Burdette.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Swafford; a brother, Forest Eugene Burdette; a sister, Marian Grubb; and two nephews, Keith Grubb and Floyd Warner.
She was a retired LPNa��at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Pediatrics Unit and a member of Westwood Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are sisters, Frances Hilt and Marylin Burdette, both of Ashland; and nieces, Frances Hale, Patsy Rotramel, Juanita Warner, Teresa Barrett, Paula Compton, Glenda Reffett, Sandy Warren, Brenda Grubb and Kathy Warner.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Phillip Zimmerman and the Rev. Ed Caudill. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 19, 2010, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
